Activity of the Department:
The Department of Building Structures on Mining Areas performs research
and development works, offers expertise and opinions, observation and
supervisory works, consultations, scientific and technical advisory
consultancies, trainings (conferences, seminars and courses)
in the following fields:
- design and construction of new engineering structures in areas
subjected to mining impacts;
- protection of existing structures exposed to mining impacts;
providing:
- principles of design for new structures and methods of
strengthening existing objects exposed to mining impacts;
- methods of calculating and checking structure resistance against
mining impacts;
- assessment of the resistance of existing structures to forecasted
mining impacts;
- assessment of building serviceability in consideration of
inflicted and predicted mining damages.
The scope of works offered by the Department involves the following
engineering structures:
- housing buildings;
- public utility buildings;
- industrial plants, storage facilities;
- sacral objects;
- bridges.
